  • Are just starting out* and want to build up their confidence.

  • Are returning from an injury.

  • Just need a bit more time getting to the ball.

How do I play?

Walking Tennis has been designed to be accessible for all. It’s still tennis – but with a few tweaks:

Walking Tennis Testimonials

I joined walking tennis after cancer surgery I was extremely low mentally and needed positive energy to encourage me to be positive. I hadn’t played tennis for some considerable time and very rusty and restricted as to what I could do. The group has allowed me to return to tennis improve my mental well-being, confidence it’s a fun friendly group. I’m extremely grateful to Chris the coach who has journey with me in the tennis adventure!

Testimonials

When my daughter-in-law forwarded the announcement about Walking Tennis last year my family encouraged me to go as I had recently lost my dear Mum and had time on my hands. So glad I went down to meet Chris and told him I hadn’t played tennis since I left school - a challenge or what for Chris. I have really enjoyed the sessions whatever the weather, and the ladies have been friendly and encouraging.  Chris has been very patient and is an excellent coach, I have learnt a lot and whilst we are exercising we have a laugh and I look forward to meeting up each week.  Thank you Chris.

I joined the group to help with rehabilitation after a tibial plateau fracture. I was a regular tennis player before my accident. After relearning how to walk, it was fantastic to get back on a smaller court which required me to move less. The small group was welcoming & friendly & Chris (the coach) was encouraging & patient as well as good company. I loved the fact we went back to basics, just because I wasn’t brilliantly mobile it didn’t mean I couldn’t learn new skills & shots on the tennis court! For many weeks our sessions were the highlight of my week. I am now back at work and hope to be back on a full size court later this year. Thanks ladies & Chris.

It's the best hour of my week!

I thought my tennis days were over due to problems with my knee, as I felt I could no longer keep with play on a full size court.

So I was really pleased when this walking tennis group was started and equally pleased that Chris was the coach.

It's a really good experience  of friendliness, fresh air, exercise and good for my mental health.
